Shemot AInthology
I’m delighted to share our very first rapid-turnaround project from MefarshAI: the Shemot AINTHOLOGY, a 60-page compendium of insights on Parshat Shemot—researched, compiled, and finalized in under one hour so I could print it and bring it to shul before Kabbalat Shabbat! The fact that it was so swiftly produced makes it more of a creative experiment than a “definitive” work, yet it highlights how AI can assist in curating a surprisingly rich collection of divrei Torah on short notice.
Why This Anthology?
As soon as the idea arose, we turned to our tested AI processes (developed while building BookDev AI) to gather commentaries from Rishonim, Chasidic masters, and modern rabbinic thinkers. Rather than weeks of manual research, we used a single, iterative multi-layer prompt to collate these perspectives—covering everything from Moshe’s character development to Shifra and Puah’s moral fortitude. With the final text in hand, I was able to print a robust Torah resource just in time for Shabbat.
Navigating AI & Torah
We recognize that many are cautious about using AI for Torah study. Our aim here is simply to explore the possibilities: letting AI rapidly assemble sources, then applying our own editorial judgment. This anthology is not meant to replace traditional learning or “author” new halachic texts; it’s a conversation-starter, demonstrating how carefully guided AI can help in sifting through extensive commentarial material.
What’s Next?
This anthology was our first weekly experiment. We’ve already published a second project—a reflective Va’era workbook based on Nechama Leibowitz’s teachings—and we plan to continue producing new Torah+AI endeavors every week. Our hope is to partner with different collaborators, exploring various angles on parshanut, Talmudic sugyot, and more. If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.
Thank you for joining us in this early-stage journey. We’re excited to see where each new parsha (and each new creative spark) might lead, blending our reverence for Torah with the evolving capabilities of AI.
Shabbat Shalom,
Dave
